Bird wins Game of the Week

by Matt Lincoln

MIDLOTHIAN, VA (WWBT) - The speed of L.C. Bird easily neutralized the size of Cosby Friday night, leading the Skyhawks to a 66-44 victory over the Titans in the NBC12 Game of the Week.

The 'Hawks ran circles around the big men of Cosby, and outrebounded the Titans by a large margin.  Bird had multiple second-chance points to pace them to a 15-4 start to the game, and an 11 point lead at halftime.

Cosby cut the lead to nine in the third quarter, but Bird coasted to the 22 point win in the Titans' house.  Earlier this season, Bird won at Monacan in our NBC12 Game of the Week.

Tyrek Branch led the Skyhawks with 19 points. Cosby's Nick Coppola led all scorers with 26.

Bird now has a two game lead in the Dominion District, as they improve to 8-0 in the league, and 11-1 overall.  The Titans drop to 9-3 overall, and 7-2 in the district.
