RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Some lawmakers at the General Assembly will try to pass a bill that would eliminate the mandatory HPV vaccine for 6th grade girls Friday.

The House has given preliminary approval to legislation that would lift the mandate.

Virginia is the only state that requires girls be vaccinated against the virus that can cause cervical cancer.
