Get paid to search and play

POWHATAN, VA (WWBT) -

When Lyla was born, Eleanor Ross and her husband decided she'd become a stay at home mom, but they had to figure out how to cut it financially.

"We just kind of scrambled to figure out a way to cut our expenses," Eleanor said.

She searched for savings online, passing them on to friends and family that eventually turned into her blog, savingourway.com. Her goal is to help you cut your budget. Hers took a big hit last December.

"Paying for Christmas in December was really a hit," she said.

She turned to a familiar site to avoid the holiday stress. Swagbucks.com is a search engine that rewards you for perusing their site.

"I realized I could potentially save up the Swagbucks and purchase all of our gifts without anything out of our pocket," said Eleanor.

When you search using Swagbucks, you earn digital dollars that can be redeemed in their online catalog or for gift cards.

"It's very easy to use and it's just like any other search engine," she said.

But searching isn't the only way to earn those digital dollars.

"They have daily polls, surveys," Eleanor explained.

They also have videos, coupons, and games, plus you get bonus Swagbucks for referrals. There are limits to the number of redemptions of the same prize per month, so you have to plan accordingly if you want to pay for Christmas like Eleanor did.

By December, she had redeemed $325 worth of Amazon gift cards. Shopping the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, she bought gifts for 20 of her friends and family.

"It was nice to actually be able to afford something on their list and for it to be something I knew they wanted," said Eleanor.

It's completely free and you'll get 30 Swagbucks when you sign up, just click here. If you use the code "SBGames" (the bonus code is case sensitive), you get a bonus of 30 more, starting you out with 60. But you'll have to hurry - this offer expires Friday at midnight.
