RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The possibility of snow here teased school children hoping to play in the white stuff - we ended up with rain and ice.

But further north, they'll end up with several inches to a foot of snow that could cause joy or pain depending on how you look at it.

Emergency workers with plows and salt spreaders are ready to go to work.

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg promises that crews will work even harder after the city was criticized for the way it handled a post-Christmas storm.

This storm has already piled snow five inches deep.

The flakes started falling yesterday in Washington, D.C. And last night in Philadelphia.

Forecasters are calling for up to five inches to fall by tonight.

The area expected to get hit the hardest is Boston.

People there could see up to a foot of snow on the ground by tomorrow.

The east coast of Massachusetts is under a blizzard warning until eight o'clock tonight.

More than 3,500 flights were scrubbed yesterday and at least a thousand more are expected to be canceled today.
