MECHANICSVILLE, VA (WWBT) – Hanover police arrested the man they say exposed himself to a group of people and groped a 16-year-old girl.
Police say Christoper Mullen, 21, was arrested Wednesday night by Richmond police. Officers said he was hanging out in the Aspen Hill neighborhood on December 16 and 17 when the incidents happened.
Mullen is charged with two counts of sexual assault involving a juvenile and two counts of indecent exposure.
On Tuesday, people in the Aspen Hill neighborhood were keeping their eyes and ears open for Mullen after hearing about these sex assault incidents so close to home.
Most of the people we spoke with had not seen Mullen. Police have been looking for him after reports that a man exposed himself and sexually assaulted a teen-aged girl in the Aspen Hills neighborhood in Mechanicsville.
"Uncomfortable," said one neighbor we told about the incident. "Uncomfortable, certainly concerned. I've got grandchildren around so I don't want him around here."
The news came as a shock to most people living in this quiet community.
Mullen's Facebook was last updated on December 11, just five days before the incidents happened. Police had not been able to locate him since. And even though the victims were familiar with Mullen, neighbors aren't taking any chances.
