RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Armstrong High School and the surrounding neighborhood are without water due to leak, according to the Department of Public Utilities.
The water main break has caused Richmond City school officials to dismiss Armstrong High School students at 12:30 p.m. and to move Fairfield Field Court Elementary students to the Arthur Ashe Center, according to Richmond Public Schools. Both schools lost water earlier today due to the break.
Fairfield Court students will be transported back to the school at the end of the normal school day and will follow their normal school dismissal procedure. Parents who normally pick up their students at Fairfield may continue to do so today.
Officials expect the water main break will be fixed later today and both schools will return to their normal schedule.
DPU said around 10:30 a.m. that if it could not fix the leak within two hours that school would have to be dismissed early.
