CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - A former University of Virginia lacrosse player accused of killing a women's lacrosse player faces five additional charges.
Charlottesville prosecutor Dave Chapman said Friday that felony murder, robbery, burglary, statutory burglary and grand larceny charges have been filed against 23-year-old George Huguely. He already faces a first-degree murder charge in the slaying of Yeardley Love and has been held without bond since his arrest in May.
Huguely's lawyers said in a statement that the new charges were expected and they are fully prepared to defend against them. A hearing is set for Monday in Charlottesville General District Court.
Love was found dead May 3 in her apartment after suffering blunt-force trauma to the head. Huguely had told police at the time that they had been involved in a relationship that had recently ended.
