COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA (WWBT) - We've spent a lot of time warning you, but now the warnings are over. The flu is officially here...so here is how you deal with it.
Dr. James Bush is already treating several cases of the flu at Colonial Heights Medical Center.
The most common symptoms include body aches, fever, cough, sore throat and headaches.
There is antiviral medication treatment for the flu. However, you need to see your health care provider and start taking the medication within 48 hours of when you start to feel ill for the medicine to be most effective.
See your provider within 24-48 hours of developing symptoms. If you get sick and they are not open on weekends or cannot see you in a timely manner, seek care at an urgent care or ER rather than wait more than 48 hours.
