COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA (WWBT) - Dr. James Bush is treating scalp ringworm at Colonial Heights Medical Center.
Scalp ringworm is a fungal infection of the scalp that causes a scaly irritated area commonly with some loss of hair in the affected area.
It is mildly contagious. Do not share hats, combs, brushes or towels with infected children.
Scalp ringworm requires oral medication. Treatment usually takes up to 6 weeks.
See your doctor if you notice hair loss. Also, follow up with your doctor after treatment to make sure it is healed. Medication may be given longer if it is not completely cured.
