RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - What, at first, appeared to be a tie between two area babies is now not the case.
Early Saturday, St. Mary's Hospital said the first baby born at the hospital was born at 4:18 a.m. which tied with the first baby born at VCU Medical Center.
However, after St. Mary's staff reviewed birth records this morning, a baby born at the stroke of midnight is the first baby born of the new year.
Staff believed a baby born at midnight would have the birth date of December 31 but after checking, they discovered they were wrong.
Colton Jackson Rodenhaver was born at midnight and he has the honor of being the first baby born in 2011. He weighed seven pounds and four ounces. His father, Dan Rodenhaver, told NBC12 Colton and mom, Carolyn, are doing well. Colton joins big sister Olivia. The family lives in Midlothian.
