Posted: Updated:

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A man and woman were found dead in South Richmond from apparent gun shot wounds shortly after 4:35 a.m.

Police have just identified the victims as 25 year old Alex Arrington Junior and 25 year old Caraliss Logan. Police tell us that both of the murders are related and that neither of the two lived in the Hillside Court neighborhood where the murders occurred.

Police said they responded for a shots fired call in the 1700 block of Southlawn Ave and found the man unresponsive.  The woman was found a block away in a car.

Both died at the scene.

"I've seen a lot of police and I seen a dead man stretched out," says Latesha Lewis, who lives in the Hillside Community.

She awake on New Year's Day to that scene just outside her front door.

DeAngelo Hamil also talked to us about the violence in the community. "This needs to stop. It's a mess. There are other people out here that deserve more than dying."

"I don't know what to say but the violence needs to stop," says DeAngelo. "That's just crazy that don't need to be happening."

Both say they are worried about the kids in the neighborhood. But, both know that the crime will likely continue not only here where the crime occurred, but in other areas too.

DeAngelo wants to change that, now. "Everybody needs to get together, talk about it instead of all this violence, crime and all this stuff happening."

Detectives are investigating the homicides.  Anyone with information about these shootings is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
