HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - The snow did not keep everyone at home. Many people hit the streets looking for after-Christmas deals.
Kacy Mosby and her girls Noel and Lenora say the day-after-Christmas shopping is a family tradition - especially when Santa brings some of those popular plastic cards.
"The roads were a little slick. We slid a couple of times before we got to highway," said Mosby. "The girls got gift cards and we had to come shop, and we are looking to see exactly how much we can get for how little."
While the crowd at the mall wasn't quite what you might see on Black Friday or even the day after Christmas during better weather conditions, a lot of folks did venture out for returns, to spend gift cards or to just see what kind of deals they could find.
These girls knew exactly the stores they were after in Virginia Center Commons: Justice and Hot Topic.
"Well I'm looking for jewelry and lip gloss and stuff like that," said Lenora.
"I'm going to be looking in Hot Topic for jewelry and other stuff and then just some regular clothes and stuff like that," said Noel.
While the storm's timing may be bad for retailers, it could have been worse.
Last year, a snowstorm on the Saturday before Christmas buried much of the same area - and cost retailers about $2 billion.
