Peripheral neuropathy

HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) - Dr. John Clay is treating called peripheral neuropathy at Health Group-Hopewell.  It is an uncommon problem with some scary symptoms.

It can cause numbness, burning, or tingling sensation in the legs/feet, and occasionally the hands. 

It most frequently originates from diabetes, alcohol abuse, or Vitamin B12 deficiency.  Sometimes no known cause is discovered.

To avoid peripheral neuropathy take control of diabetes, Vitamin B12 replacement if indicated, and avoid heavy alcohol intake.  Prescription therapy is often necessary and helpful.
