TDIT semifinals wrap up at Siegel Center

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The week of Christmas means holiday high school basketball tournaments all across the country.  The major one in Central Virginia, the Times-Dispatch Invitational Tournament, wrapped up with its semifinals Monday night at the Siegel Center.

In the boys semifinals, Highland Springs outlasted Cosby 65-61, and Henrico crushed Steward 66-43.  In the girls semi's Hermitage topped Varina 47-39 and Meadowbrook beat Thomas Dale 59-53.

In the boys consolation bracket, the L.C. Bird boys topped Dale 68-61, and Patrick Henry beat up on Hermitage 75-57. 

On the girls side of the consolation bracket, Henrico hurdled Tucker 71-46 and Huguenot downed James River 52-38.

Play finishes up Wednesday at the Siegel Center with the following schedule:

Girls seventh place game: James River vs. Tucker, 9am

Girls fifth place game: Henrico vs. Huguenot, 10:30am

Boys seventh place game: Hermitage vs. Thomas Dale, noon

Boys fifth place game: L.C. Bird vs. Patrick Henry, 1:30pm

Girls third place game: Varina vs. Thomas Dale, 3:30pm

Boys third place game: Steward vs. Cosby, 5pm

Girls championship game: Hermitage vs. Meadowbrook, 6:30pm

Boys championship game: Henrico vs. Highland Springs, 8:30pm

Menez will make his first home start for the Flying Squirrels on Friday, but burst onto the scene in his AA debut, tossing six shutout innings and picking up a win at Harrisburg this past Saturday.
