RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A Richmond police lieutenant charged with assault on a family member and brandishing a firearm was convicted Monday in a Henrico County courtroom.

William "Randy" Meadows was convicted Monday of domestic assault and battery.  He was found not guilty of brandishing a firearm. Meadows plans to appeal the conviction.

Meadows was arrested after a fight with his wife in August.

The criminal complaint states Meadows was "punching, scratching, and choking her during an argument."

Meadows was freed on a $3,000 bond but ordered to stay away from the house and his wife.
