RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The city of Richmond's infrastructure has been taking a hit in this cold weather.

Several water main breaks have been keeping city crews busy.

The worst one at this time would be the one at 14th and Broad. Broad Street is closed in both directions.

It's near the ramp to 95 close to MCV.

The water main broke around 1 a.m. Thursday.

Crews worked on three others while it was snowing. That makes two dozen in all so far this month.

Around this time last year, the city only had half that number of water main breaks.

A public utilities spokesperson said, it was mostly likely because of how cold it is outside.

She also says Richmond has the second oldest infrastructure in the country.

Broad Street will be closed area until further notice.
