Forest Hill McDonald's robbed, suspects on the run

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Investigators in Richmond are looking into an armed robbery at a McDonald's in the 6800 block of Forest Hill Avenue just after 6 a.m. this morning.

Things are back to normal at the Forest Hill Avenue restaurant. But for hours this morning, yellow tape surrounded the parking lot, as Richmond investigators worked to get to the bottom of an armed robbery.

Forensic units and other investigators converge, gathering evidence and surveillance video of the crime that happened before the sun rose in the middle of a very busy, business area.

Hours later, Taylor Loving was out doing his job, cleaning up the parking lot next to the McDonald's.

"I go in there a lot of times. It's definitely crazy that it happened here right in the middle of here. It's not like this is back from anything," says Taylor.

Marie Hart was also counting her blessings this morning.

"It's scary. But, I'm glad I wasn't in there. I was thinking of going in there," says Hart.

Investigators say two men walked into the McDonald's just after 6 a.m.

Police tell us at least one shotgun was shown by the suspects. But no shots were fired and no one was injured.

The description of the two men involved is vague.

"They could have taken anyone stuff around here. I'm going to lock my truck up now," adds Taylor.

"I'm glad you told me and I'm going to be real cautious where I'm walking," says Hart.

Witnesses told police this morning they possibly saw the suspects leave here down Forest Hill Avenue east toward downtown Richmond in either a two door Toyota or Honda.

If you have any information about this crime, give Crime Stoppers a call at 780-1000.
