RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - If you spent the money on the expensive phone, you may as well use it to save some money. You can shop with free apps like "shop savvy". The app uses your phone's camera scan product barcodes. Then it will automatically compare the price to thousands of others, both in store and online. It'll give you a list of the best prices in town as well as maps to get you there.
Another free app for iPhones and androids is "snap tell". Just snap a picture of the item you want and snap tell gives you reviews and ratings, plus comparison pricing.
Next is "sale saver". This one works well if you have coupons valid only on certain days. Sale saver has a price calculator that computes your discounts and lets you save all of your future buys in one place, making it easy to see your savings.
Then there's "mobi-q-pons". This free app pinpoints your location and loads local coupons to neighborhood stores and restaurants right to your smartphone. When you see a coupon that looks good to you, simply click use, show the cashier your phone and they'll either scan it or type in the code manually.
