PETERSBURG, VA (WWBT) -  It's been nearly one year since a Petersburg man went missing. Friends and family members of 27-year-old Michael Green are hoping the anniversary of his disappearance will spark renewed interest in the case.

Green's room is the way he left it on December 19, 2009. Webs on the wall reflecting the passage of time.

"I think about Michael just about everyday," said Tyrone Hudson. "Where is he? Is he coming back? What happened to him?"

Hudson is Green's roommate. He reported Green missing when a day passed and he didn't hear from his friend.

" I'm hoping folks haven't forgotten about Michael missing and are still keeping an eye out," said Hudson.

Green was last seen in his Petersburg home. He left behind his cell phone,  ID, and keys. All items he never left home without.

Green's family said that they, along with police,  have contacted hospitals, morgues, even jails, trying to pinpoint the missing man. Over the year, fliers with Green's face have been posted throughout the area. Even a billboard was also put up in hopes of finding Green...neither have proven fruitful.

"He was a very religious person . There were times I was feeling down and out and he'd come talk to me and tell me God is on your side," said Hudson.

For now, loved ones are hoping the community and a higher power will help bring Michael Green home.

Green's family lives in New York and they say it's highly unlikely that he would disappear on his own and leave behind his young son.
