Longwood coach put on suspension

by Matt Lincoln

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Longwood will be without the services of its head coach for the foreseeable future.  The school says it has suspended women's basketball head coach Kristin Caruso pending resolution of a personal matter.

The school did not provide any details on the suspension.

Caruso is in her fourth year at Longwood. Before that, she served as the associate head coach at the University of Hartford for five seasons.  A Richmond native, Caruso is a 1986 graduate of Hermitage High School and was a four-year standout at the University of Connecticut (1986-90) for veteran head coach Geno Auriemma.

Without Caruso on Thursday night, Longwood lost to James Madison 66-41.
