RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The rain continues to fall in Central Virginia and we are getting some reports of damage.

NBC12 has been tracking power outages across the area. There are almost 2,027 outages in the Richmond Metro, Tri-Cities area right now.

According to the NBC12 First Warning Weather Team, a tornado watch that was in effect overnight expired at 9 a.m. without any tornado warnings being issued.  A line of heavy rain and high winds that moved through early this morning did produce numerous severe thunderstorm warnings.

Rain totals were up to 1 1/2 inches and winds gusted to 60 mph in a few spots.  The winds were strong enough to knock down trees and power lines, and in some neighborhoods, siding was ripped from homes.
