HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - On this Thanksgiving, a lot of people are getting a head start on their Christmas shopping, hoping to beat the mad rush on Black Friday.

We stopped by the Kmart on West Broad. It was a busy day, but the store manager expects it to be a madhouse tomorrow.

Shoppers said they're just working off those calories from the Thanksgiving dinner! It's the sound store managers like to hear!

The cash is flowing!

"I came in for one $2.99 item and leaving with $200 worth," said Rick Parker.

From holiday decorations to toys and electronics. Shoppers, like Kyndell Parker, are bargain hunting for the best deals this Christmas.

"Kind of preshopping mapping out the story for tomorrow morning," said Kendell Parker.

"Just got finished with thanksgiving and I want to get something done before I start feeling sleepy," said Ferron Powell.

Powell is shopping for his four children, ages 8 to 16. This was his first of several stops. He has plenty of options this Thanksgiving, with more stores open to feed the holiday shopping frenzy.

"Getting ideas and maybe buying," said Powell.

Patricia Linhart actually stopped in for a Thanksgiving purchase, she'll save the Christmas shopping for the weekend.

"Storage containers to put all my leftovers in," said Linhart.

150 people were lined up outside Kmart before the doors opened at 6 this morning. You can bet there will be even more for the start of Black Friday shopping.
