Roads busy with Thanksgiving travelers

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Interstate 95 through Richmond had a steady flow of holiday travelers recently. And DeShawn McKnight from Reading, Pennsylvania, says he was stuck in the traffic for many hours.

"I think I should have left a couple days earlier because it's really like bumper to bumper; it's really slow. I mean you get your little stretch where it opens up but it's really under the speed limit most of the way," said McKnight.

Stopping by for a quick bathroom break, at least McKnight says he hasn't been through accidents along the way.

It was a rough morning for hundreds of holiday travelers stuck on I-95 after a  truck accident closed both sides of the road near Lombardy. Traffic was backed up for about two hours. And the driver was charged with reckless driving and taken to VCU Medical Center. State Police said there were no really bad accidents so far but traffic will remain a headache those on the road.

"You're at a traffic jam and you're sitting there for 10, 15 minutes, 20 minutes and you move maybe a quarter mile, it gets really frustrating," said Grayson Corwin.
