CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA (WWBT) - Displaced tenants of a large apartment fire will come together Tuesday to celebrate the holiday.

Management of the Chesterfield Square Apartment complex is treating fire victims to a Thanksgiving feast Tuesday.

NBC12 was there last year when flames tore through the apartment complex ultimately displacing nearly 175 people. More than 150 elderly and disabled residents were evacuated.

Now, a celebration as construction is ahead of schedule. Nearly half of the displaced residents are back in their homes and the rest are being housed at different properties but are expected to be able to move back in starting this summer.

Construction should be completely finished by December of next year. The fire, caused by a candle, was ruled an accidental. No one was hurt, and that's another thing management and tenants say they'll be thankful for as they celebrate Thanksgiving a few days early together.
