RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Governor Bob McDonnell is set to meet  with Defense Secretary Robert Gates Tuesday.

The two will discuss the Pentagon's plan to shut down the Joint Forces Command.

In august, Gates announced his plans to close the command, which is located in Norfolk and Suffolk.

The command provides about 6,000 jobs in the Hampton Roads area.

Gates plans to use the meeting to lay the groundwork for the closing.
