MIAMI, VA (WWBT) - At about 11 a.m.  Friday, Nationwide cars are on the track and I don't think there's anyone in Florida who cares. It is just waiting time until Cup practice starts at 11:30.

The way the garage is set up, the three cup contenders are right next each other -- which is cool except for the throng of media that surround it.

Denny Hamlin is in the middle, with Jimmie Johnson to his right and Kevin Harvick on the left.  It is a great day and I can feel the back of my neck getting redder. Both because the sun is out, and I'm at a NASCAR race.

I'm not expecting Hamlin to be good today. He said at the press conference that usually qualifies here in the 30's -- which means his times are not going to be good. But he does believe this is a fast car -- so I guess anything can happen. The bigger point is if his times are poor in this practice, there is no need to panic.

Also Jimmie Johnson just walked by, which means he's not running away scared. But there is still time.
