HENRICO COUNTY, VA (WWBT) - While most of us were sleeping, the latest film in the Harry Potter series, hit the movie screens around the country at midnight. Friday will be a first for some in the deaf community going to see the film.

There will be two showings in our area featuring captions.  Normally those with hearing difficulties have to wait weeks to see a captioned movie, but Regal Cinemas and the Virginia Office for Protection and Advocacy teamed up to make this new change.

The first showing will be at 6:45pm Friday at the Regal Virginia Center Commons Theatre, and the second showing will be Sunday, at 3:45 pm.

Advocates of the deaf community are hoping to show that the movie theatres will not lose money by choosing to show a captioned movie on an opening weekend.
