One dead, one injured in single car crash on I-95 in Richmond

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A man is dead following a single vehicle crash that took place Tuesday at around 10:30 p.m. on Interstate 95 near Virginia Union University in Richmond.

Virginia State Police Trooper E. M. Short was called to the scene on Interstate 95 at the 77 mile marker, north of the Lombardy Street overpass.

A 2009 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling northbound when the driver ran off the roadway to the right and struck several trees.  The passenger, Leslie F. Jones, 46, of the 5000 block of Spruance Road in Richmond, was not wearing his safety belt and died at the scene, according to police.

The driver, Lindsey B. Greenstreet, 23, of the 9000 block of Brandywine Avenue in Richmond, suffered serious non-life threatening injuries in the crash and was transported by ambulance to Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center.  Greenstreet was wearing her safety belt.

Greenstreet was charged with driving on a revoked license and involuntary manslaughter at the hospital, according to police.  Driving under the influence of a drug is considered a factor in the crash.
