UPDATE: Suspect in South Richmond shooting arrested

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond Police have arrested a man sought in connection with Tuesday's shooting on Harwood Street.

Lamar J. Williams, 18, of the 500 block of Windomere Avenue surrendered at Police Headquarters yesterday afternoon without incident. He has been charged with aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers found a male suffering from a gunshot wound inside a residence in the 1400 block of Harwood Street. Detectives worked quickly to gather evidence and interview witnesses and soon developed Williams as a suspect.

Investigators credit the community's information and involvement with the speedy arrest of Williams.

Richmond Police are still looking for Naquan Shemel Wright, 25, of the 300 block of East 19th Street, in connection with the Friday afternoon shooting of a man in the 1700 block of Rosecrest Avenue, also in Hillside Court.

Anyone with further information about this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
