Redskins sign McNabb to extension before MNF game vs. Eagles

WASHINGTON (AP) - A pivotal NFC East matchup brings the curtain down on Week 10 of the NFL schedule tonight when Washington hosts Philadelphia. Both the 4-4 Redskins and 5-3 Eagles are chasing the 6-3 New York Giants for the top spot in the division standings.

Led by former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, the Redskins beat the Eagles 17-12 on Oct. 3 and are 2-0 in the division after finishing 0-6 last year. Philadelphia is 0-1 in division play.

And McNabb will have another reason to be fired up for the game tonight. ESPN has reported that a McNabb is being signed to a 5-year, $78 million contract extension. No terms have been released.

Washington knocked Michael Vick out of the first meeting in the first quarter with a rib injury and Philadelphia's quarterback missed the team's next three outings. Vick returned to action last week and was named NFC offensive player of the week after accounting for 292 yards and two TDs in a victory over the Colts.

McNabb will start tonight after being benched late in a loss to Detroit two weeks ago, before the Redskins' bye week.
