The parade down the grand staircase at The Jefferson Hotel, and the lighting of the huge Christmas tree in the hotel's rotunda, will kick off the Christmas season in Richmond and introduce the audience to representatives of many holiday events that are planned in the area.
It will be held Monday, November 29.
Two concerts will precede the traditional parade. Flutopia, comprised of flautists from Three Chopt Presbyterian Church, will begin festivities at 5:10pm. At 5:30, The Dozen from Woodberry Forest School will sing carols.
The parade and presentation of holiday characters will begin at 5:50.
The ceremony will end with the arrival of Santa and the traditional dance by CHEER.
A reception for guests and participants will follow.
The hotel décor will feature grandiose wreaths, swags and dozens of poinsettias and well as the much beloved nativity scene and gingerbread house, which is crafted by chefs in the hotel kitchen.
The event is open to the public at no charge.
