"The Pedophile's Guide" book sold online

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Shocking and disgusting - that's how people are describing a new book being sold on amazon.com.

The book is called "The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure, A Child Lover's Code of Conduct" and you can get it online to your Kindle, an E-book being sold by Amazon.

People are shocked Amazon would even sell something like this.

The title is shocking enough, but under the product description it says quote "this is my attempt to make pedophile situations safer … with hope that their doing so will result in less hatred and perhaps lighter sentences should they ever be caught."

There's well over a thousand customer reviews, some of the comments read, "shame on Amazon", "this is disgusting", and "this is the most despicable title."

Sentiments echoed here in Richmond tonight.

"This can lead to something so much more bigger than just it being a book. People decide to read it, 'Oh yeah, I totally agree if I want to have sex with a little kid it should be fine because I just read this book and I should get a lighter sentence if I get caught,' that's ridiculous and unacceptable regardless of freedom of speech or not," said, VCU sophomore, Tiffany Dabne.

"Something of this should not be on the Internet; being sold on the Internet much less Amazon," said VCU senior, James Lovato.

On Twitter, the outrage is much worse. There's been a trending topic boycotting Amazon.com until the book is taken off the site.

NBC12 reached out to Amazon this evening and got this response: "Amazon believes it is censorship not to sell certain books simply because we or others believe their message is objectionable."

Amazon goes on to say the company doesn't support criminal acts, and believes customers have the right to not buy it.

Late tonight, the author of the E-book is speaking out, defending his work:

"You know, every time you see them on television they're either murderers, rapists, or kidnappers. And you know, that's just not an accurate presentation of the, that particular sexuality," said author, Phillip Greaves 2nd."
