HANOVER COUNTY, VA (WWBT) - There's an event focusing on the senior population in Hanover County on Thursday.  The Council on Aging and a church in the Doswell area are partnering to host a senior resource fair.

There will be all kinds of things going on, considering the goal of these programs is to help older adults and their families understand what is available right in their community.

The 50 and over crowd will be exposed to local opportunities to stay active, address their current needs, plan for the future, and enjoy an enhanced quality of life. This will mean information and access to everything from social services to parks and recreation programs.

Seniors are a vulnerable subset of the population, and program leaders say they need socialization and access to information.

Thursday they can get that all in one stop. If you'd like to attend this event it's going on Thursday afternoon from 1pm to 4pm at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Doswell -- that's located at 16210 Short Cut Road.

An event like this actually fits into a broader effort by Hanover County leaders to focus more on the needs of seniors in the coming years. That's a goal in both the county and parks and recreation master plan.
