RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - An update in the cold case of the Colonial Parkway Murders.

The sister-in-law of one of the victims faxed a letter to Virginia's secretary of Public Safety asking that the parkway murders be the state's top priority.

Jennifer Phelps says that office has not followed through on providing updates on the status of the case, but Annamaria, Phelps' sister says the family is content with how State Police are handling their investigation.

A spokeswoman says Governor Mcdonnell and Virginia's Secretary of Public Safety have consulted at length with State Police investigators.
