Richmond police break up fight in Shockoe Bottom

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The Richmond Police Department responded to a request for assistance to deal with a fight in the 00 block of South 18th Street at 12:28 a.m. Monday morning.

It took several minutes for officers to disperse the unruly crowd. They made four misdemeanor arrests for disorderly conduct.

One of those four individuals, Cortez Wright, 20, of the 600 block of Pollock Street, Richmond, was also charged with assault on a police officer, a felony. In addition, Wright was charged with obstruction, destruction of property and drunk in public; all misdemeanors. Wright's arrest photo is unavailable at this time.

The officers were assisted by officers with the Virginia State Police who were in the area at the time.

One Virginia State Police officer was injured and one Richmond Police officer was slightly injured.
