Domestic dispute turns deadly in Spotsylvania

SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA (WWBT) – One man is dead and another behind bars after a fight at a house party.

According to the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office, Jason T. Jett was found shot at a home in the 100 block of Early St. around 2:00 Saturday morning.

Deputies explain there was a party at the home and Jett was arguing with his wife.

When the argument became heated deputies say another partygoer, 23-year-old Lawrence Toler II, attempted to break up the fight.

That's when deputies say Jett retrieved a gun from the home.

Deputies say Jett and Toler struggled over the weapon when it went off, striking Jett twice in the abdomen.

According to deputies one of the bullets went through Jett and hit another partygoer.

Authorities were notified and Lawrence fled the scene.

Jett was taken to Mary Washington Hospital where he later died.

The second partygoer was treated for minor injuries.

Deputies say Lawrence later turned himself in.

He's now facing second degree murder charges.
