RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A grand jury met Friday in Lancaster County to discuss felony charges for a Richmond fire captain after a deadly boating accident this summer.
Investigators say Steve Nixon was driving the boat. That hit a channel marker in the middle of the Rappahannock River in July. The accident killed Henrico school teacher Amanda Brady.
Nixon will go on trial on nine felony counts, including felony murder for causing a death while committing a felony; aggravated involuntary manslaughter; four counts of aggravated child abuse causing serious injury; and three counts of aggravated wounding while intoxicated.
The trial date was set for February 17 and 18. The two misdemeanors that Nixon was found guilty on but is appealing will also be heard during these trial dates.
