RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Online retailers hope to see an increase in online shopping traffic in early November.
But the Monday immediately after Black Friday has proven to be one of the biggest online shopping days of the year, with retailers kicking off the season with special promotions.
If you plan to shop online - make sure you protect yourself.
Make sure the site you're visiting is secure.
Look for an "s" after the "http" in the web address (i.e. "https://").
"The 's' is for secure site, that means that the website you're visiting has an SSL certificate," said Mitch Gervis for Neospire Managed Hosting. "That means the site has been verified by a third party provider, that they are who they say they are."
Also, make sure you have antivirus protection.
Choose strong passwords.
And use credit, rather than debit cards.
