Windy Oaks owner trying to keep his monkeys

HANOVER, VA (WWBT) - In two weeks, some Hanover County chimpanzees will find out their fate.

Their owner is petitioning for a permit that would allow four chimps to stay in Mechanicsville at his Windy Oaks Exotic Animal Farm.

You may remember hearing about a pair of chimps that escaped back in August.

We've since learned owner Curtis Shepperson didn't have the proper permits needed to keep a total of six chimps.

He's agreed to send two back to their original owner and on October 27 there will be a public hearing to determine if he should be allowed to keep the other four.
