HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - Two Highland Springs men face multiple charges related to the thefts of a valuable car part.

Brian Parsons, 35, of North Juniper Street, and Michael Bullock, 25, of North Kalmia Street, were arrested in the early morning hours of October 13.

That morning, police say an officer observed a "suspicious vehicle" in the 3100 block of Old Hilliard Road. The vehicle then sped off at a high rate of speed only to be pulled over moments later. Police say freshly removed catalytic converters along with a cutting torch were found in the bed of the truck.

Parsons and Bullock each face five charges including vandalism and larceny.

Catalytic converters are used in vehicles to reduce the toxicity of emissions. They are sometimes targeted by thieves for the precious metal contained within, usually platinum.
