Richmond police seek cigarette bandit

Press release from Richmond Police Department

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The Richmond Police Department is looking for a suspect in three larcenies targeting Fas Mart convenience stores for one item – cigarettes.

The suspect usually walks up to the counter, requests two cartons of Newport cigarettes, snatches them when the clerk puts them on the counter and runs from the store. The Fas Mart stores at 5200 Hull Street Road and 2107 Semmes Ave. have been hit, with the Semmes Avenue location targeted twice.

No weapon was displayed during any of the incidents.

The suspect is a black male in his mid to late 30s with a bald head. During the incidents he wore a black T-shirt, black pants, dark shoes and a black coat or jacket. Photos from store surveillance accompany this advisory.

Anyone with information about these larcenies or the suspect involved is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000 or Third Precinct detectives at 646-1109.
