COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA (WWBT) - Dr. James Bush who is helping his patients with shingles at Colonial Heights Medical Center.

Shingles is a painful rash with small blisters caused by reactivation of the chicken pox virus.

The pain tends to start about three days before the rash appears, and the pain may continue for up to a year after the rash.

While the rash can heal without treatment, medications heal it more quickly and also may prevent lingering pain.
