HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) - Dr. John Clay is seeing something many people deal with this time of year: the common cold.
It is usually viral and lasts 7-10 days. Symptoms include mild fever, fatigue, cough, nasal congestion, sore throat, and headaches.
Tylenol, nasal saline sprays, decongestants, cough suppressants, and rest will help. Most of the time antibiotics are not required.
If the development of chest pain, shortness of breath, wheezing, persistent fevers, or unremitting symptoms occur after one week, see your doctor.
