RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The streets of Richmond will be filled with the sound of music all weekend long. The 3rd annual Richmond Folk Festival kicked off Friday in downtown near the riverfront at Tredegar and Brown's Island.
In addition to music, there will be food, dancing, crafts -- something for everyone. It starts Friday at 6 p.m. and runs through Sunday evening. The festival is free, but donations are encouraged and accepted.
Organizers say the warm weather we're seeing today and expect the rest of this weekend would bring out record crowds. The air in downtown Richmond is full of music and the smells of diverse food this weekend.
Organizers say over 30 artists ranging from bluegrass to Irish fiddling will be performing all weekend.
Downtown Richmond is home to many festivals throughout the year, but organizers for the Folk Festival say this one brings more people to one place than any other.
This festival far more than any other that happens in Richmond brings all kinds of groups of folks together. The mass array of genres of music really bring people today. It is free to the public and runs Friday through Sunday.
