RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Investigators are looking into what caused a fire that left a family of three without their home Monday morning.

The fire started around 2 a.m. at in the 5300 block of Blue Ridge Avenue in Richmond.

Firefighters tell us that it took no time for flames to take over the home, saying at one point that fire was shooting from every part of the house.

A mother and her two teenaged children were able to get out.

Investigators say the house is a total loss. They say the fire looks suspicious because of how fast it spread.

There were no injuries.

The red cross is helping that family.
