HENRICO, VA (WWBT) – Today marks five months since a Henrico man was found shot to death at a playground.

No one has been arrested for the murder of 20-year-old James Poole also known as JJ. Now, his loved ones are hoping you can help crack this case.

"If anybody knows who killed JJ I'd like for them to come forward. I'd like them to talk to police," said JJ's mother, Deneene Poole.

Poole says she won't rest until justice is served.

"I just miss him. I miss him so much. They took a part of me. It hurt so bad because JJ was not a bad kid and for someone to just take his life like that -- it's painful," said Poole.

JJ was shot multiple times. His body was found on a playground at the Henrico Arms Apartment Complex in the city's East end.

With tears in her eyes Poole said, "I'm going to see him again -- I'm going to see him again."

The murder happened 5 months ago today. The gunman is still on the loose.

"He was always encouraging me -- even when I didn't want to encourage myself," said Poole.

Kids are back at play at the scene of the crime. Their parents are also filled with questions about who took JJ's life and why.

"They took a way a good person and I think whoever did it knows that," said Lashonda Harrison. She attended high school with JJ.

"That was my friend -- that was my friend. It (the murder) still feels like it happened yesterday," said Harrison.

For now, loved ones say they're praying that someone -- anyone can help solve this murder mystery.

"I know somebody out there knows who did it," said Poole.

A spokesperson with Henrico Police says the department has gotten some leads in the case, but are looking for more tips. If you have information on JJ's murder, call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
