RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Thursday we will find out how the Virginia Department of Transportation is spending money.

The Associated Press is reporting the agency left nearly $490 million unspent while rest stops were closed to cut maintenance costs last year.

The audit also shows VDOT spent $488 million less than was available for maintenance during the 12-     month period that ended June 30.

Governor McDonnell will release more details about the audit Thursday afternoon at 2pm. We'll be there for that announcement; look for our continuing coverage on air and online.
