Pizza driver thwarts attempted robbery, suspect shot

HANOVER, VA (WWBT) - The Hanover County Sheriff's Office has obtained charges on four individuals responsible for the attempted robbery of a pizza delivery driver Sunday night.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., the victim had just completed a delivery in the 8000 block of Possum Trail in Mechanicsville when he was approached by a male, brandishing what appeared to be a rifle.  It was later determined to be a BB gun, according to Hanover authorities.

After pleading with the male to stop, the victim produced a handgun from inside his vehicle and fired one round in the direction of the suspect, striking the suspect in the face.

The suspect has been identified as Brandon D. Floyd, 26, of the 7200 block of Cold Harbor Road.  He was transported to MCV and is currently receiving treatment for his injuries.

Investigators have determined that the driver was followed from his place of business to the point of the attempted robbery.  Also charged in this incident were Adrian R. Seay, of the 7000 block of Drinkard Way in Mechanicsville, Mark W. Long, 25, and a 17 year-old female, both of the 4300 block of Rockhill Road in Mechanicsville.

Long and Seay are currently incarcerated in Pamunkey Regional Jail.  The juvenile is being detained in a juvenile facility.  Floyd will be taken into custody when he is released from the hospital.
