Suspicious House Fire in Chesterfield Co., Crews Still on Scene

By Gene Petriello

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WWBT) -- Right now, crews are on the scene of an overnight house fire, trying to figure out how it started in the first place.

Crews say they are treating this fire as suspicious right now and the fire marshall is on scene taking pictures of the blaze.

It started sometime around 3:30 this morning and took about 45 minutes to get under control. We're told there were flames shooting out of the house from the first and second floors.

Fire crews have done two sweeps of the building and have found no one inside. At this point, it appears as if the building is abandoned.

No one was injured during the fire.

This is very close to the VSU campus. We're told fire crews will be on scene for some time, putting out hot spots and waiting for the fire marshall to finish his investigation.
