KING WILLIAM, VA (WWBT) - A King William woman faces eleven counts of embezzling from the insurance company for which she worked.

Karen C. Wright, 44, of E. Spring Forrest Road was arrested Wednesday morning by Henrico Police. The alleged embezzlement took place at Bituminous Insurance, an Illinois-based company with offices on Glen Forest Drive in Henrico.

Police say they became aware of an accounting "irregularity" in November of 2009, and that subsequent investigations indicate more than $500,000 had been embezzled over a period of 10 years.

Multiple sources also confirm that Wright's husband is a King William sheriff's deputy, but he has not been charged, claims no knowledge of the alleged acts in Henrico, and remains in good standing with the King William Sheriff's Office.
